Chapter 5

My head was killing me when I awoke the next morning, an effect of so much alcohol in my system and having gone to bed so very late. I couldn't immediately remember much about what had happened the night before. I recalled that I'd been feeling very bad about something, then very good about something, but I couldn't make heads or tails about what was what for the very life of me.

I rolled over to my side of the bed, and squinted groggily at the clock.

“Oh shit,” I muttered, realizing I'd overslept and missed several of my classes.

Then I rolled over onto my opposite side, and discovered an even bigger surprise.

“Oh, shit!”

I practically soared out of bed, leaping to the floor and as far away as I could get from the body that had moments ago been pressed up against my own. It was then that I discovered being completely naked, and I scrambled to pick up my clothes from the floor and rush into them (I accidentally slipped into Clarissa's panties at first, and this made matters even worse.)

It didn't take long in all that commotion for Clarissa to stir from sleep, sitting slowly up from the bed with the sheets pulled over her chest.

“Mia, what the hell is going on she asked?”

“What do you mean what the hell is going on?! What the hell did we do last night?!”

“You don't remember?” she said with a smile, but I was too freaked out right now to think there was anything to smile about.

I thought hard, past the pounding in my temples, and tried to recall the events of the previous evening. I remembered the party, and the two of us dancing together. And I remembered seeing Cameron, feeling my heart break as he made out with another girl. Then I remembered storming back to my room, and Clarissa coming to console me, and-

“Oh my God... We didn't!” I said, hoping there was some way, any way I could be mistaken about this.

Clarissa furrowed her brow at me, and pulled the covers up a little bit tighter against herself.

“Yeah... We did actually... I didn't think this would come as such a shock to you...”

I couldn't believe it- she was the one taking the tone of offense, when I was so clearly the one who had everything to be offended about.

“Are you kidding me?!” I shouted at her. “How could you do this to me? You force me to go to some stupid party I didn't want to go to in the first place, you ply me with alcohol, then at the moment when my life's just fallen to pieces you get me into bed with you, like I'm some kind of- kind of-”

“Some kind of what?” she asked, narrowing her eyes at me.

“God!” I said. “Don't act all self-righteous about this! I'm not like that, okay?! And you know exactly what you did!”

“You sure as hell seemed like that last night!” she shot back. “And all those other times
